Freedom begins where fear ends!

In order to enable equal educational opportunities for all children right from the start, day care centers that have a high proportion of families with difficult starting conditions in their area receive additional funding. Since the 2014/2015 kindergarten year, these plusKITAs have received at least 25,000 euros per calendar year. There are currently around 1,700 plusKITAs in North Rhine-Westphalia. We at the St. Josef kindergarten can count ourselves lucky to be part of PlusKITA and to make a contribution to supporting families with difficult starting conditions.

A special focus of the PlusKita instrument is the promotion of language education and support. The aim is to focus on the children's background, to strengthen educational opportunities and to reduce existing disadvantages.

The participation of all families in our facility is a major goal, which we break down and address on many levels. In daily contact, we are language role models for the children entrusted to us and promote language development. We organize parents' evenings on specific topics, hold intercultural festivals and have a permanent contact person to accompany families on visits to the authorities.

We offer three different care times.
The parents make a binding decision before the kindergarten year for a care period.

• 25 hours:
  Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

• 35 hours:
  Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• 35 hours:
  Block: Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  or
  Flex: 2 days from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  and 3 days from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• 45 hours:
  Monday to Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
