About us

Religious education

In everyday kindergarten life we live and convey our Christian values, such as charity, appreciation, empathy, acceptance< /strong> and tolerance.

In our entrance area we have created a religion corner together with the children. Here the current topics of the children are always presented transparently. The children also use this place as an additional play area to internalize themed content.

Together with our pastoral officer Ms. Dirks, we organize different services with the children.

Christian festivals such as St. Martin, Nicholas, Christmas and many more are part of our annual cycle. These are also prepared and carried out with the children.

Our pedagogical understanding is based on the Christian attitude.
All families of all cultures and religions are welcome with us, as long as they respect our Christian attitude.

Educational work

The St. Nikolaus day-care center has three groups.

► The Rainbow group(2-3 years)
► The Sternschnuppengruppe (3-6 years)
► The sunshine group (3-6 years)

With us, the children are supported in so-called mixed-age groups to become self-confident and independent people.
The special feature of group type three is that small and large learn together and from each other.
The older children learn to take care and responsibility and often give the younger children a helping hand.
The younger children learn a lot and are therefore more independent and braver to try something new.

At the same time, we prevent the individual personalities from being over/underchallenged.  So that our facility remains an "oasis of well-being" for the children, our group rooms and play materials are adapted to the age and stage of development of the children.

Our  Daily routine is shaped, for example, by certain rituals. Recurring processes (depending on the age and stage of development of the children) bring an overview and orientation to the child's small world. In addition, we convey reliability and security. This basic basis creates trust, so that the children can take their individual further development step. The everyday language support is an integral part of our everyday kindergarten life. Board games, rhymes, songs, books, radio plays, plays and much more stimulate and develop children's love of language.

Everyday kindergarten life demands very different impressions from the children and can be very challenging and exhausting. That's why we have further qualified in the areas of yoga, autogenic training, progressive muscle relation and fantasy journeys. Through the different methods, we offer the children the opportunity to relax and rest.

In all activities and individual development of the children, we stand by the children as a "careful companion"!

Under 3 years old

The first year of kindergarten is a new stage in life for the children and their parents with many new tasks.
Getting used to everyday kindergarten life will be the first major challenge for the child, as well as for the parents. We work based on the Berlin settling-in model, which means that your child will settle in slowly and carefully.

In the first few days you accompany your child in the kindergarten so that it is easier for your child to get in touch with us. Getting used to educators and building trust. As soon as there is a basis of trust between your child and us, we work to ensure that you can leave your child alone in the kindergarten for a short time.  The time span is individually extended from day to day.  Many children find it easier to separate from their parents when they have their favorite stuffed animal or pacifier by their side, so it might be a good idea to bring these items with you on day one.  Of course, we see changing diapers as our job, and here too it is the case that your child, accompanied by you, is used to changing diapers with your primary caregiver.

Of course, the children have the opportunity to take a nap in the kindergarten after lunch. Each child will find their own bed in the bedroom.

Inclusion

The idea of inclusion characterizes our work and mission statement. In our facility Inclusion is one of the top priorities.

Inclusion means that all children have a right to support. It doesn't matter whether the child has a disability or not. In our day-care center we implement the inclusion of cultures, identities, lifestyles, ways of life, values and religions. We are open to children with different developmental requirements. All children are cared for and educated equally, depending on their level of development. Since inclusion starts in the mind, we see the strengths of each and every child, regardless of mental, emotional or physical development. Playing together is the most important means of communication for children of all cultures and social groups. We encourage this through offers and free play support. In playing and learning together we encounter social diversity, linguistic diversity, age diversity, different genders, diverse physical performance and interests.

Through observations and documentation, we determine the pedagogical support for the child, so we can accompany the next stage of development of this child.

"It's normal to be different!"

Meals

In our day-care center we offer the children a healthy and balanced breakfast every day. From 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., the children have the opportunity to serve themselves at the breakfast buffet, which is accompanied by a specialist.
Of course, we take the different religions and cultures into account in our establishment, so that we consciously refrain from eating pork.
We charge a flat rate of 9 euros for breakfast.

If you have booked 35 booking hours in a block or 45 booking hours, we offer a warm lunch including dessert for your child.
Lunch costs 3 euros per meal and is delivered by Apetito and heated in our facility in the convection oven. The children are allowed to have a say in the choice of lunch. Parents have the opportunity to note intolerances.

Intercultural education

Intercultural education refers to pedagogical approaches that are intended to promote the coexistence of people from different backgrounds. It is important to us to familiarize the children with the values of acceptance, openness and respect as best we can. We enable the children to develop multicultural thinking in order to live in a heterogeneous society in mutual recognition. Due to the high number of people with a migration background in our daycare center, we draw a lot of experience and knowledge from different cultures and countries of origin.
This does not mean that we imitate the education from other countries, but rather about developing a common basis.

All people are equal! Together we are strong!

Everyday integrated language education

In order to be able to implement the everyday integrated language training even better, we have an additional language specialist in our team.

In our everyday life, we communicate in very different ways and support the children entrusted to us with language support that is integrated into everyday life. Without communication, working together cannot function, which is why it is important, especially in elementary school, that the specialists behave in a language-promoting manner. Our specialists are aware of this, so that they use specific basic principles in everyday life in order to achieve language-promoting behavior.
Thanks to our power of language, we have the opportunity to respond more precisely to each individual child.
Our language skills work in a development-oriented manner, which means that they adapt individually to all stages and areas of language development.
The language education in our facility takes place in our everyday life, because it has to be used throughout the day, which means in every interaction or game situation between the educator and the child.
This means that we verbalize our communication with words, but also with the help of gestures and facial expressions.
It is important to us that we communicate with the children at eye level, which means on the one hand that we can look each other in the face, but also that children are equal conversation partners for adults.
Our specialists also act as role models for the children and do not correct the children explicitly if they express something incorrectly, but reproduce it correctly so that the children can repeat it and practice it.

Our institution also takes part in the federal language program.
